Is an eTA Mandatory Requirement for Foreign Visitors to Kenya?

All foreign visitors, with the exception of citizens from EAC Member States, are obligated to obtain the eTA for travel to Kenya. What is the Required Information for eTA Application?

  1. Valid passport
  2. Recent passport picture OR a selfie picture taken during the application process
  3. Contact details (home address, telephone, email)
  4. Travel information and flight itinerary (arrival flight number, date of departure for the initial flight, in the case of connecting flights)
  5. Proof of booking for the hotel where you will be staying (if staying with friends, a letter of invitation is accepted)

Is an eTA an Assurance of Granted Travel to Kenya?

To apply for the eTA, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the official online website
  2. Click on "Apply Now" and follow the provided instructions
  3. Ensure accurate entry of all required data
  4. Submit the application
  5. Receive an email confirming receipt of your application
  6. If applicable, receive an email confirming receipt of payment
  7. Upon a decision by the Immigration officer, receive an email confirming Approval/Refusal
  8. If approved, either print the attached PDF document, download it to your mobile device, or save it in the "Kenya Travel Authorisation" mobile app. This electronic travel authorization must be presented at departure and arrival points.
